Inside Clayton - Presented by Clayton Library Friends

Updated 06/05/2024 - Due to illness, this topic with Jessica Collins will be rescheduled to a later date. Please stay tuned. In it's place, we will present "Adding Metadata to your Digital Photos" using the Vivid-Pix Restore software. For those in-person attendees interested in practicing, be sure to bring a USB drive with 1-3 photos.

Inside Clayton is a Clayton Library centric program to introduce both members and non-members to the Family History Research Center (FHRC) at the Clayton Library Campus, its collections, books and resources for genealogical research. This hybrid meeting is open to the public. It will begin with a presentation for both Zoom and library attendees. Followed by a hands-on practice for in-person attendees.

Topic: Hitting Pay Dirt with Agricultural Census Schedules

Jessica Horne Collins will demonstrate how to find your farming ancestors in agricultural census schedules, part of the US federal non-population census schedules between 1850-1880.  Some states' agricultural schedules are found only on microfilm; hands-on practice with Clayton's digital microfilm reader for these records will follow the presentation.

Genealogist Jessica Horne Collins is the current President of Clayton Library Friends.

In-person attendance registration is not required for this meeting. Simply arrive by the scheduled time.

Online registration is required to receive the Zoom link for the instructional portion of this event (approx. 20-30 minutes).
